British government has no intention of ever leaving the EU, its been decided from powers higher up. They are just the chummy whipping boys doing what they are told. The UK will never, ever get a referendum unless they vote UKIP. That party is the only one with 'British' interests at heart and the only one I think who could sway the Scottish Yes voters.

If Scotland gets independence (and I doubt we will) then I believe it would be far easier to push a referendum through. Scotland has no say to what party is elected in the UK as it is so if you feel your vote falls on deaf ears think how it is for us. :)

Scotland would be far better off pressing the UK govt to leave europe for all our good.
Check out todays latest announcement:

http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/a ... m-cleaners

This is to be followed by rules for most other household appliances, ovens, hairdryers, almost everything else soon.
Leaving the union is small fry compared to the unchallenged rule of europe,an unelected superpower that answers to no one.

Yes very interesting, so...independent... just not that independent eh?

Unless this is a new usage of the term 'independent' that I was previously unaware of? ;)

Its not the English pound though is it? It belongs to all the Countries in the union. What about the Channel Islands? They are not apart of the UK but they have the pound.

Anyway, England would never stop us using it. The £ is propped up with Scottish Oil. Its been reported that the GBP would slump 15% without Scotland making it worthless damaging both Scotland and what remains (for a while) of the UK.

Well yes it is I'm afraid, well, from way before Kingdom of Scotland merged to form the Kingdom of Great Britain in the 1700's, interestingly enough the Jocks had their own pound from before, but it was worth less than the English one

Anyway, I'm all for bringing back mining tokens for The Cornish...oh hang on, hold that thought, better get tin mining again...ah no s0d it, we'll just keep fleecing the emmetts, tiz easier. ;)

The fact England is saying we cannot be in a currency union shows how scared they are and how little ammo they have in their arsenal. Its the only thing Darling keeps repeating, untill now. :D

A Nobel Prize winning economist who was chairman of US president Bill Clinton's council of economic advisers, said a currency union between an independent Scotland and the rest of the UK could work, as he dismissed the refusal of the main Westminster parties to agree to such a deal as ‘bluffs’.
Professor Joseph Stiglitz said: ‘One of the things as an outsider I've looked at the debate, particularly from the No side, I've been a little bit shocked how much of it is based on fear, trying to get anxiety levels up and how little of it has been based on vision.
‘There is a vision on the Yes side that I see - what would an independent Scotland be like, what could it do that it can't do now.’
Regarding the rejection of a currency union by the Conservatives, Labour and the Liberal Democrats, he said: ‘For the most part these are bluffs.’
The economics expert told the Edinburgh International Book festival that if there was a Yes vote on September 18, there would have to be talks between Scotland and the rest of the UK.
‘People are going to be looking at what is in the best interests of the each of the two parties and there will be a negotiation. I think inevitably they are bluffing.’
He argued currency union could work, saying: ‘If you look at the statistics for the similarities of Scotland and England they are sufficiently similar that a currency area could work, that's what the Fiscal Commission recommended.’

Na,

You guys won't go, know when you're onto a good thing & we'll keep paying out for it.

However, if you do go it alone, then maybe (just maybe) we'll be seeing some of that free prescription, uni-tuition fees, hospital parking action that our Caledonian brethren have been enjoying. ;)

Not the people, if Leading Parties really wanted the ill informed English masses to have their say don't you think you'd have it and save them all this trouble? Its very naive to believe otherwise

Very little people in England have a clue what Scotland has or supplies. All they hear is what they/we have been conditioned to hear. Barnet formula, Barnet formula, Barnet formula. :D

Some of the 25% of the UK's food and drink export is more than OK going by the worlds demand. ;)
