Polishing/renewing faded taillight lens?

Hi, anyone got any tips on getting a clear shine back to a taillight lens that's faded, gone pink and couldy?

Yep, there's plenty of kits on the market. gradual coarse to fine pastes and polishing compounds. easy to do.

I've also seen vids with fly spray but think my money is on the above !

Ok cheers, I'll look them up. It's going to be fiddly as the lens is the whole width of the car and not smooth. The whole thing is a series of steps about 5mm thick!

try on a small bit first. it's just polish at the end of the day. have you tried tcut ?

Hi XP29,
My rear lamp unit is cloudy like yours so I will be interested to see how you get on.

Replacement lenses are available in the US, but at a price !

I successfully cleaned the cloudy headlight lens covers on my Scooby with an unflavoured toothpaste, but they are smooth .

I normally use T cut on lenses, a toothbrush will get into hard to reach places.

It's the stuff with bicarbonate of soda in. Slightly gritty

Yes is around $500 plus shipping and duties for a repo lens!

Thanks guys, I shall go at it with tooth brush and paste. I can take my time and do a good job as I have a spare lens that was split that I glued back together, so although not great, it will do till I can get the original cleaned up.
