My black rattle can was from Poundland.
Cost ..........£1.
I bought lots of them and used them for loads of bits on the Chally, including the deck lid T/A spoiler.

It was easy and cheap way to do it for the small bits.

I think the 'correct' paint is a 'suede' colour for 1970. In 1971 it changed to a satin. AFAIK, suede was somewhere between a satin and matt.

None of that matters if you are not worried about getting it 'exact' - I would think that many satin blacks would do the job nicely.
Being more concerned about longevity than originality, I actually had my dash frame, glovebox lid, ashtray door etc powder coated. Not only was the colour spot on for my 1971, and should last forever, the labour saving in having them blast it first was worth it - it was very reasonable IIRC.

Got some off eBay (USA) only 1 company sells it, maybe more now. They said they are running out of the ingredient that gives it the suede finish. Have to thin it was a good lacquer thinner. Black is cheaper than colours but still £100 a small pot.
