That's always how it goes, eh?
A couple of years I won an auction for the entire contents of a reccord shop that shut down in the late 90's. Filled a discovery 'til it was practically sat on the bumpstops 3 times just with vinyl.
Didn't plan to, mind... I thought I was bidding on a pile of about 200 reccords on a shelf. Didn't realise until I'd paid up and all the punters had moved on that I'd just bought a heck of a lot more than that!!!
Blimey thats just crazy, was there any gems within ?? and was it only records,,

http://www.iconic-av.co.uk/manuals/Beoc ... Manual.pdf

you can take a link from the pre out Phono sockets to another Amp and use that to add clout if the beocenter has not got enough OOmph

match speaker power to amp power. better to have the speakers complain at the volume before you drive the amp into clipping, that will kill both speakers and amp.

you can fit a record deck into AUX if you buy a moving magnet phono pre amp to sit between the deck and the Aux input. that take the tiny signal from the cartridge. boosts its bass, kills its treble and build it up to the output level of a CD player which is suitable for AUX input (about 2.7 volts)

this would do

but for better sound

something in the 100-300 mark would be better.

anyway
you have started on a slippery slope that ends somewhere here :)

If you use Farcebook, join 'Audiophiles UK. Second Hand Hi-Fi and Music' , a few interesting bits turn up now and again.

I recently bought an old Arcam A85 amp, Arcam CD82 CD player and some B&W 602 S3 speakers. Amazing sound quality, like nothing I’ve heard before. And have wired it up to the pc to play mp3 albums / films. Makes the Denon DM41 I bought last summer sound like a transistor radio.

Nice

as long as you don't get persuaded to buy gold plated mains plugs.... and 1 meter lengths of wire that cost 500 quid you'll be fine :)

but I'm sure you'll agree it is nice to listen to a well worn track something you have know your whole life and go jesus, a never knew there was a piano in there

was listening to I can't explain by the who, a stereo mix that never saw the light of day until 2002....

there is a piano in there..... and the stereo version of my generation has none of the mush in the middle and there is a piano in there as well.... who knew? Pardon the pun

another one that freaks me out is Blur moden life is rubbish. the CD was a compressed mess but having listened to it for 30+ years an orginal pressing of the LP was a revelation. quite is quiet loud is loud....it is like a different version.
and i'm getting what i think is great sound out of a turntable made in 1964 amplifiers built from kits in 2000 and some 90s mission speakers

mind i have no transistors in my Vinyl set up all valve from turntable to speaker so it works very well for LP and it takes the "thats a CD or MP3" edge off those formats

if you are MP3 ing stuff try foobar2000 bit of a pig to set up download and install it and the plugin pack (all the good stuff is off the right click menu) but rips ya CDs to lossless FLAC and checks the data against the accurip database to make sure you get avery last 1 or 0 off that disk.

And of course you do realise that the best system in the world is not going to get back those high frequencies that all/most of us old farts have lost by now =P~ =P~ 8-[
