Insurance from 2009

Just reading Mail on Sunday. Quote "From 2009 the pressure on uninsured drivers will ratchet up a notch,An offence of KEEPING a car without insurance will be created. Owners could be fined for having a car with no insurance,EVEN IF IT IS PARKED OFF THE ROAD."

Can anyone elaborate on this subject as to how it might affect registered project cars and race cars?

I see a solution, (if its true)! Set up a company, with some mates that doesn't really do anything, get a trade road risks only policy, and just cover them all on that.

Just insure the car as "OFF ROAD" cost about £50

This story does the rounds every year and its rubbish! The goverment would gain nothing as all the money would go to the insurance companies so why would they impose it? And if they did bring it in, all that would happen is all the people who knowingly and intentionally drive without insurance will just stop registering cars in their name, thus nothing will be achieved.

i already have a trade road risk only policy (all the decent cars are insured in their own right) it only costs £300 a year and covers me for any vehicle im licenced for . if anyone is thinking of getting one read the small print as most wont cover any vehicle not manufactured for the brittish market or are fibreglass bodied vehicle. these clauses are easy to get removed, one phone call to explain that i work on reliant robbins and one of my customers has an american camper and all was sorted, now covered for yanks and kit cars

Race or Project car , and both kept of the road, not street legal , therefore no ins req, where would they end otherwise, what about these sit on grasscutters etc

This is about inventing a new law for keeping any car off road without insurance. Don't forget the proposal last year re motorbikes,which would have resulted in almost all motorcycle racing becoming illegal because the bikes would have to road legal.
