Thats quicker than my 572 with slicks......
I wonder how there 60 ft times compare to mine ?
They must be still getting a really good launch to run <10 @ 138
How much glue is on the track ?
That runners making more power than my car to going to through the trap @ 138 & prabably the same weight or will it much lighter with every gram shaved off but still looking stock ?

do you not think that perhaps they are spendin like $20,000 per rear tire maybe havin them specialy made or somethin mad like that cause there is no way a honest street tire can hook and lift a front tire
and how can they wring 900 hp out off factory heads etc big inches yes but that does not give such gai ns over stock cubes

They don't seem to be revving that high either. It's not like they are launching at 7K and shifting at 10K. :?

There are tyres and there are tyres

That Mustang may well be using something like this ??? They are a D.O.T. tyre but bear no resemblance to a street tyre

Nice stroker kit + heavily ported heads + loads of unseen weight saving measures

No they use repo polyglass tyres, no slicks, no drag radials, no softened or specially made tyres etc. Fiberglass belted, skinny tread like the originals. That's what makes them so amazing. Obviously they need some special cam grinds to sound 'stock' (another rule) but to get out of the hole softer and then take off!!!

Dave Dudek has published pictures of his teardown, do a search

The Mustang is using G60x15 polyglas tyres, a 750 vac sec Holley and a 2200rpm stall convertor.

1.54 second 60 foot.

Exhaust manifolds (no headers) and a full 2 1/2inch exhaust system

Yes Andy, you are (both) correct, that was Dave Dudek's Hemi Roadrunner, he's been one of the top guys for years. IIRC a few years back a BB Corvette (68 style) was the record holder but many people thought running a fiberglass 2 seater against a 3500lb musclecar (Dudek had a Challenger then) was not really fair, Dunno what happened to him but Dudek has been the class of the field for a while I think, until this guy with the Mustang came along and took his record! I believe there is some ongoing controversy regarding the Fords suspension etc but I guess you are always going to get that when cars run as close to the rules as this. It's kinda like the NHRA Stock class - some real restrictions which mean that no stone is left unturned to gain fractions more of a second.
This is my recollection, I don't follow the class closely but it does interest me a lot and Dudek posts on Moparts from time to time. Be nice to get along to a round!!

high compression, gears, strokers, cheater cams, etc,? still makes it hard to understand? :?

Makes you wonder where you are going wrong, must be down to lots of money in engineering as the physics cant change

exactly right how can a car have a 2,200 stall and a lousy 1.5 sixty foot then run 9.90 and lift a wheel with crossply copies some tom foolery, got to be and as for the vette being light against a 3,500ilb challenger thats crap have you seen a vette chassis  and the glass body aint light either,
real mystery this one,
dave simcocks chally goes 10.7s best and thats a eddy head 440/1050 dommie/transbrake 727/4,000 stall/ 430 gears/ 10.5 slicks and the car is a little bit lighter than stock and we thought this was a cool quick car.
