Painting your racecar old Skool

Post by Guy »

In these days of modern vinyl stickers and wraps its great to see a car being done old School, watch this being done in time-laps video and look at the colour pop in the daylight.

If I ever get another car I want it doing this way.

Looks fantastic! Candy apple paint and gold leaf lettering are very expensive, you're going to be looking at several thousand pounds for that sort of work, materials alone will be a couple of grand...

We were chatting the other night about paint jobs & a painter we know in US. High dollar paint jobs are unreal these days, I was amazed to hear about a show car & the cost to get into the primer stage the bill was $35k.....

It's always been that way, I read recently a top quality custom paint job back in the '70's averaged about 10k. The paint itself is very expensive, and the old style flakes took gallons of lacquer to cover, you could be talking 30+coats. Tons of masking, hours and hours of labour, has to come to big money.

Looks great....... Proud to say, we do the whole lot under one roof, from prep to paint to lettering to airbrushing....

Problem is, there is not enough work out there.... That is why, I am thinking of calling it a day, after I do my car.

Shame, but the digital age is killing art.
I am keeping this Mopar....... SOLD!
