Planning to swap for better cooling. Is it a different water pump or does the fan mounting flange come off? Lots of head scratching.....
Thanks!

Pump i sthe same to the best of my knowledge, check as Viscous fans come in different lengths so you may get clearance issues with the Radiator.

It looks like the viscous clutch screws onto the snout of the pump, rather than bolts on?
Haven't bought one yet, so can't compare - and don't want to until I know the fitting and can then decide the depth

Later fans like fitted to the 4.7's screw on, the "old School" stuff is still 4 bolts...

The correct type will look like this...
It's normally only A body applications that are really tight and require the shortest hub. About 3/4" from the rad core to the nearest part of the hub is as close as you want to go. I know Dusty on here has a new one for sale that might suit you.
Details here that might help,

#offtopic - but is that a wonky photo or a wonky fan ? I cant quite align my head to it

no they are like that
dunno why but they are
presume it creates some pulsing or turbulence that is considered useful
or it will reduce noise. I bet the pulses caused by the offset blades cancel out the pulses caused by the normal blades making it quieter
somefink like that

remember the big long screws for you standard fan will need to be swapped for very short versions to get that viscous fandango onto the pump.

Yes the fan blades used to be assimetrical like that, the ones they supply now have a regular pattern.

Cheers Peeps! Really useful.
