having just put my new mini starter on, I now need to lengthen the cables to it from the battery.
As all the wires on our cars are AWG, what do you guys use in metric equivalents (for say 4 ,6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18 gauge wires)?
Specifically, I am curious about the 6 and 12 gauge wire. I am supposing fatter cable is better for the main positive feed.

my thoughts :a heavier cable it always the best idea

For the solenoid cable, 010104 44/0.30, 3.0mm2, 27.5A - cable OD 3.7mm. Should be more than man enough for the job.
decided on part ref; 010603 Flexible 315/0.4, 40mm2, 12.0mm, 300A for the battery cables. Manual says cranking amps 165-180A small block, 180-200A big block. Thought I would go one step bigger than the 010602 Flexible 196/0.4, 25mm2, 9.8mm, 170A as I`m lengthening the cable. What exactly did you buy, Neil ?

just an update on the outcome.
New FAT cables fitted to starter motor. While I was being all electrical, thought I`d put some headlamp relays in. I reckon I `ve got at least another volt to the lights at idle. Certainly seem a lot brighter and it takes the load away from the headlamp switch
Also got all the new ignition parts and distributor on as well.

I also put a junction box under the battery tray (less visible) to supply the relays.
yes, ordered everything through these guys and couldn`t fault the service.Did you get the headlight relays from the same place as the battery cables neil?

Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy My brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay My Mopar upon you
