What it does: Check out the links but it's a compound that you apply to bare metal parts that keeps them looking like…bare metal. Non-greasy, non-shiny and stays on. I'm looking at it as an alternative in some areas to powder coating or painting. For example my steering box - rather than paint it I'd rather have the bare metal look...and this is a quicker, cheaper, and easier.
Does it work or is it snake oil? Good question! Honestly, I am very sceptical of 99% of these miracle cure type products. Usually if it was that good someone would already have done it and we'd already be using it! However, in this case it does genuinely seem to do exactly what it says. The guy who 'invented' it, Dave Walden, runs ECS who are the best reproducer of accurate decals and have a very good track record, plus he's the guy that not only restored the Challenger to new standards a few years back but honestly and truly rewrote the rule book with his recent restoration of a 4 -door Valiant of all things. Many of you will have heard of this but if not and you are interested check it out. It takes anal retentivness to a new level but you can't argue with the results whether you like them or not. It was during that resto that they developed this RPM stuff.
It's also been reviewed by some pukka mags, and importantly has had some serious discussion on Moparts where positive personal experience with it has been shared.
For all those reasons I figure it's worth a go, it's not being given away but it's cheap compared to many expenditures, one tub will do a whole car etc etc.
So make up your own mind but if you are interested I’ll have a couple extra. Only caveat is my strong preference to not get involved in shipping these things around the country for time constraint reasons. If you can get it off me at a club meet, Euronats, through a mutual contact etc that would suit me best.
