Forgot to put this pic of mine up. I'll pull the plate off tomorrow and have a better look.
I think I'll need a limiter plate. That'll stop it at 18* which is dead right for mine.
£20 seems a lot for a bit of metal with a few holes tho, I bet it'd be easy to drill & tap the dissy body and stick a screw & locknut to stop the weights just where you want

Has that dizy rotor been hitting the electronic pick up?
You need to disable the secondaries to get the primary jets right first. 3000rpm is a good rpm for tuning the primaries and the pump shot. 13:1 ratio for the primaries.
Then let the secondaries work and tune at 4000rpm or higher to get 13:1 again. After that you need to start seeing what it runs on the strip and see if an increase in secondary jet size = an increase in MPH on the track.

It is close Dave but it's not made contact. I might nudge a little further away just for peace of mind.
I understand what you're saying about tuning the primaries first. Trying to get the bugger to idle was a balancing act between the two and I didn't want to mess with that but I get what I need to do.

Why are you fiddling about with a 750VS carb?..(only joking)..
You need a good 800>850DP carb with a 50cc front pump and largish 31 shooters for your Manual set up and with that 585 cam...you'll notice a BIG difference m8, my 340 with 850dp carb and a .590 cam responded really well to exactly that, forget all the calculators for carb cfm sizing per cubes etc.......Steve Green with the 3500cc rover tried my 850 on his car and went 2/10ths quicker!!!!

Are you talking from a racing perspective Les?
This is a street car with (hopefully) a once-a-year trip to the Pod so would that still apply?
Its seat of the pants feel and added hp which is ok for the street as well, I guess if your making more hp you don't necessarily have to use it to do what you want on those mad occassions!!...and less throttle=less rpm=less fuel in theory, although thats not a major concern?. Efficiency is the key.
Its just that when its all set up well, it will run nice and a touch of the throttle will get you a sharp response, I'm sure you know what I mean. If you have the room, get that carb as high as you can in the air, torque will be suprisingly better, its how my 340 was set up. You in fact have more motor than I did from what I read.....so me thinks ££'s permitting its a good move?...
The SB is an excellent mtr in 340/360 guise, it loves a big carb with a decent cam/intake and at least 10.5:1 etc, and will respond really well to tuning. , and it loves N20

From the way you built it db, I wouldn't say its a street car, more a street strip car with what you got in it...and very nice too!

I guess I'll have to look into another carb though when I have some ££, even if just to shut Pete up
This is such a good motor I really want to get the best out of it.
By the way, the inlet is an M1 hi-rise with a 1/2 phenolic spacer on top.
Shooters are 31 but pump is 30cc. Pump cam is pink ( I think)
Ade W advised me to connect the vac advance to the manifold port (the upper vac port is blanked on my carb).
I tried it earlier and corrected initial to 17. When I revved it up to 3-4000 total timing went 50+
Now what?

Well when you get some ££'s, to get the best out of the motor as you say, get yourself an 850DP, add a 2" spacer to the M1 with the 1/2" spacer you already have......50cc fr pump it, I believe I changed to a pink cam and had 31 extended shooters also.......the difference will, or should be well worth it to what you have now.db wrote:Thanks Les.

I only used mechanical type dizzy's with MSD6A so not the best to advise on that apart from the obvious.
