I made up a template then transferred that onto an old filing cabinet divider from the skip at work and hammered buggery out of it in the garage. Stuck a few holes with grommets in it and mounting lugs etc, and sprayed it up. Hope it works!!!! :thumbright:

Looks great mate. Better than ugly relays cluttering things up. :thumbright:

I haven't got the lamps yet mate, I've run out of funds now so its on the 2013 list of things to get. Reading the stuff on it though, should still be a lot better and safer even with my old sealed beam lights. Going to check the voltage drop before and after, just out of interest (and if they work of course!!) :read2:

went over to the car today just to have a tinker and work out exactly where to put the relay box etc....noticed that Im not going to be able to use the existing sealed beam units as the side lights are in a separate small holder in the unit that I forgot about. Think the best idea would be to wait until I have new lamps as well and do it all in one...

What headlamps did you get Si??? Mine are approx 5 3/4". Assume they are the same as yours mate? are the side lights combined in a twin filament bulb in the outers?? The wiring diagrams I am using dont cater for a separate side light bulb....

Cheers Steve

When i converted mine I converted to halogen at the same time. Two main beam only units and two main/dip units that also had provision for small side light bulbs.

The side light bulbs I hooked up to the existing amber side light wiring.

I did have to cut a hole in the headlight mount to clear the new sidelight bulb holders.

You shouldn’t need to do anything with the wiring for the parking lights or the marker lights, just leave as is, the only 2 wires you’ll be changing are the low beam and high beam, replacing these with your new wires from the relays

I got the halogen headlamps on ebay, seller was ‘boltonbits’ and the item was like this …

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5-3-4-Halogen ... 53effa020f

There are other sellers on there selling in pairs etc., but when you take into account that this guy supplies ALL bulbs too, with shipping he's the cheapest

These have a parking light window in the outer headlamp like the old Capri's and Cortina's etc. loads of other cars English and American use the same size headlamps. The parking lights on the Charger are completely separate from the headlamps and shared with the amber direction signals

Right.... Now that makes sense Si.... Thanks! Trouble Ive got is believe it or not, my factory manual doesnt have a wiring diagram for the lights themselves, and the wiring sticky on here has everything but the front end lighting for my car. The 67 and 69 are different. Ive wrongly assumed that all the lighting power comes from the wiring Im putting in but now that I think about it and you say to leave the side light wiring as is, it all makes sense! And thanks for the link to the lights....

Will continue digging for a 68 Polara lighting diagram as its a hole in the mass of useless info I am collecting for my car!! :read2: :D
