Brooklands Tickets

Post by RobTwin »

Those of us who like going to (or used to go to) Brooklands Museum, know that despite it being a near perfect venue for car events, most of the conversations about Brooklands these days are about the ticket prices.
There will always be the argument about whether car owners should pay the full entrance fee when bringing a car to the show, but there are ways of reducing the price you pay for entry.

Stu and I bought ‘Double Membership’ a few years ago, which means if we go twice a year, we just about break even, Any more visits and we’re quids in. I'll most likely go 4 times this year.
Trouble is, as with single entry tickets, membership has been going up too in recent years. When we started it in 2023, double membership (2 named adults) was £88 for the year. This year and last, it is up to £104 (or £109 if we were joining this year).

Single adult advanced tickets are now £25.70, so our membership still just about covers the cost of 2 events each.

But there is an alternative…

At the New Years Day event, we were talking to the owner of a 1934 Austin Taxi… as you do… and he said he recently swapped his Brooklands Museum membership for membership at the London Bus Museum – which is on the same site, if you weren’t aware. Their equivalent membership to what we have with Brooklands is £68. And you get unlimited free access to all Brooklands events; basically the same as what you get with Brooklands membership. You do the math…

I haven’t swapped ours yet – it’s due to renew at the end of Feb. Must admit I do feel a bit bad about cancelling as they do rely on membership…but they are taking the p*ss with their price increases [-(

Just thought I'd share in case anyone else wanted to save a few ££ :thumbright:

Thanks Derek, I thought you might be interested ;)

There is another option that I noticed on the Brooklands website yesterday. They have a type of membership called Club, which is £210 per year (if you pay by direct debit) but its for 2 named adults plus up to 5 guests of any age.
So for example, Derek, you and Liz could be named members and if you can bring 5 other friends or family members to just 2 events throughout the year, you're quids in, as it works out at only £30 per person for the year.

I was going to do that too, however you need to check the bus membership gets you in to all the brooklands special events, it may just be for regular entry. Got to check that out. I went for brooklands family membership in the end, if you go 2.5 times it's paid for itself.

We’ve had joint membership for longer that I can remember, it’s well worth doing as we go at least 10 times a year. Club membership slows you to go in to the bar upstairs but what’s the point if you drive there.

I messaged the Bus Museum to query this and got this reply:

"Thanks for your enquiry. I can confirm that LBM membership gives exactly the same admission rights as Brooklands membership. The Concorde Experience is an extra cost for both.

The difference is that the LBM package of additional benefits - magazine, shop discounts etc. will be different to the Brooklands package.

Hope this helps."

So I've just cancelled my Brooklands direct debit (which was going up to £109) and will sign up for the Bus Museum membership at £68, some time soon .

Perfect. Will do that next year then instead of renewing the family membership. Just got to check they do a family membership which I'm sure they do.
Thanks!
