Well that was eventful! Over 60 entries but then the attrition started like I've never seen in the class before. John Davidson unfortunately hit the wall in his Roadrunner, fixable but properly bent. The Mopars of Don Scott, Stewart Arthur and Billy Mills all chucked rods out ending the season for them, Gary Cork broke his diff in his Super Bee. There were other less serious casualties as well so by the time eliminations starters I think we were down to 52 cars.
I had a couple of issues myself, fuel pump cutting out was the first. a quick check showed one of the terminals for the relay had pushed out of the mounting block leading to intermittent operation, easy fix.
The second was the car started cutting out after the burnout, and intermittently in the shutdown area. I knew what that was going to be as I've had this on the road when the weather is stupid hot as it was at the weekend, crank sensor overheating. After a bit of head scratching the fix was a damp rag left in the freezer cable tied around the sensor just as we were called to race. worked a treat, no more issues with that.
What I did struggle with all weekend was trying to dial the car in with the extreme heat, wind, no wind, suns gone in ooh it's a bit chilly. That saw me out in round one when I ran slower than my dial in against a car that was running bang on all weekend. He eventually lost running 100th of a second under his dial in, the top end of the class really is that close.

Yeh, great w/e. can't say it wasn't warm , shame about the breakages but I managed a a new PB of 11.2 with the roller cam installed by Jim. Car behaved itself really well and it wasn't necessary to warm the engine in the pits. Drive down the fire up lane and you are at 140 degrees in minutes. Fire the car with two pairs in front and ready for the run. As Blue says the air was lousy but hey ...a meeting with no rain!! With some better air and shifts with a tail wind instead of the headwind we had there could be a 10.9 in her. Great to see all the usual faces and looking forward to the Mopars. Big shout for the pod staff who were great throughout the w/e.
Now back to the World cup lol.

Nice one Mike, I’d say there definitely a 10 there with better air, most people were at least 2 tenths and some MPH down.

Well considering the old girl has not moved a wheel for twelve months she was 8 in q1 straight of the trailer and she ran like a Swiss watch . Was 17 in the field at end of qualifying got bye in the first but had to get home so never ran the next round . Ran a pb as well nothing broke so all good from my end . Shame about all the breakages and hope those guys get there cars sorted ..I just stick to my usual dial in for this car that I have used for three years at this event and was three tenths straight of the trailer . Then Tried to be clever and broke out by almost half a second ?? But can’t complain with a new pb for the car . Never had an issue so I guess it pays to keep it simple mechanical fuel pump minimal electric gizmos no problems . Ran a little hot at 200 degrees but I guessed that was the weather as Sunday with a bit of a head wind the temp was about 190 down the return road . All good and good to see the usual suspects do the usual stuff .. Mopars ?? Ain’t done it for years so maybe one last blast in the old girl
