I've just had this problem on a set of Wolfrace slots. Can't buy the exact original bolts anymore, so i had to buy a set of repro's from North Hants tyres. Did em up with a windy gun and the wheels were still loose!
Shank too long. Had to cut all 20 down with a grinder.

I got in there and nipped them up ok, so access not a problem. Not bad at idle, but when you press the loud pedal you can hear it blowing in there. Drivers side exhaust seems to vibrate too, whilst passenger side stays still... Could be blowing from the downpipe, i'll get it on the ramp this week an...

Well, i was only doing it by ear on the drive, and i never got to a point when i heard the revs noticeably increase. Just doing it a bit at a time, then going round the block to see how it felt. I ran out of time, and burnt £20 worth of fuel, so stopped there. Hopefully i'll get some figures later t...

Exhaust manifold blow

Drivers side. Noisy ticking noise, suspect manifold gasket. Any suggestions on the best gaskets to use?
Real Steel stock Victor Reinz gaskets, will they be suitable? I have old cast manifolds, so i'm guessing its not the best of surfaces to seal up.

Believe it or not the Red Arrows appearance was a total coincidence. We did the shoot on the day of Portrush Air show and were lucky to snap one just in time as they flew over us. Pics were taken in a barley field about 20 mins from my house near Larne, Co. Antrim. Its great to have some nice shots...

Hi Jon....I did mine on my Polara exactly as the manual says. The idler arm is easy to get off with a puller and a G clamp on the jaws to stop it slipping off. I have a puller that you can borrow if you want? Can pop it in the post to you. To be honest, I paid about £15 for it and its been an inval...

Great replies guys. I'm about to have a look through those posts. :read2: Just a bit of an update.. I had a little fiddle with the distributor. Marked it for reference, then started advancing it just a little at a time. Car immediately started responding quicker and running better. I moved in total ...

Spitting flat spots and timing

Ok. The 383 in my car starts and runs perfectly at idle. Doesn't even seem to need the choke on a cold day. Try to get the car moving though and its a different matter. At light throttle (maybe 1/3), and low revs, it bogs and spits back through the carb something terrible. Once moving and up to spee...

If going with stonechip Tetrosyl is really good. You can get it in a Shutz tin and spray it on with a Shutz gun. Do you have a compressor? Hammerite do their own brand of underseal, and this stuff is great. Comes with Waxoyl already in it. You can buy it in aerosol form at around £10 a can. You'd pr...

Steering box adjustment

On other old cars, (Mercedes in my case) to take up the slop in the steering box, its always been said to adjust it with the wheels at full lock left or right. This is because there will be less wear at this point, so any slack is taken up at this point. If done in the straight ahead position (where...

Hello from Somerset

Hi there. Just registered on here, so though i should introduce myself. My name is Jon, i live in Somerset, and i've just taken delivery of a 1974 Plymouth Roadrunner (the Daisy Duke one). Getting my hands on a genuine Mopar from the muscle car age has been a long time coming. With rising prices and...
